Scholarships Available For 2023 PA Abandoned Mine Reclamation Conference Oct. 24-26 In Altoona

With a theme of "Silver Lining in PA's Legacy Abandoned Mines: Celebrating 25 Years," the Pennsylvania Abandoned Mine Reclamation Conference Committee would like to welcome you to a conference October 24-26 at the Altoona Grand Hotel in Altoona, PA.

The Altoona Grand Hotel is offering conference attendees a rate of $80 plus tax per room per night for single or double occupancy with a complimentary breakfast.  The lodging deadline is September 22, 2023.

Please contact the Altoona Grand Hotel directly for rooms by calling (814) 946-1631.  Be sure to state that you are with the “AMR Conference” to get the rate stated above.

Scholarships

In addition to reduced registration fees for nonprofits, scholarships will be considered this year for overnight lodging at the Altoona Grand Hotel on October 23rd, 24th, and 25th at the block rates on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The scholarships may be offered in whole or part to members of nonprofit community/watershed organizations and conservation districts in Pennsylvania or adjoining states. For in-person attendance only. 

Preference will be given to those who can room together to save on lodging costs.  Mileage and other travel costs are not being considered this year. 

The PA AMR Conference Committee reserves the right to award scholarships on demonstrated need, distance, and availability of funding. The scholarship request deadline is September 18, 2023.  

Scholarship awardees will be notified following this deadline.
