Penn State Extension Hosts Dec. 14 Webinar On Streamside Tree Planting Effectiveness

Penn State Extension will host another in its Water Cooler Talks December 14 on Streamside Tree Planting Effectiveness from Noon to 1:00 p.m.

Streamside Tree Plantings--  riparian buffers,--are promoted around Pennsylvania and the Chesapeake Bay Watershed as a conservation practice that can improve water quality.

These streamside plantings are effective at filtering nutrients and sediment, cooling stretches of streams, and slowing property loss occurring through streambank erosion.

However, there are unknowns with this practice and how they perform in areas with complicated water movement (examples: sinkholes and large surface runoff).

What will you learn?

-- Hear about current work happening in the water resource field

-- Be able to ask questions

-- Share ideas with professionals across Pennsylvania
