Delaware Highlands Conservancy: Launches Drinks For The Delaware - Local Businesses Supporting Conservation

On May 27, the
Delaware Highlands Conservancy announced the relaunch of a program to benefit the Upper Delaware River region-- Drinks for the Delaware

Through a small upcharge on a featured drink at participating local businesses, the program offers residents and visitors the opportunity to contribute to the protection of clean drinking water with every sip.

Each month, the program will rotate to a different town in the Upper Delaware River region in Pennsylvania and New York.

In June 2021, Drinks for the Delaware comes to Honesdale, Wayne County. Participating businesses include Black and Brass Coffee, Be Kind Bakehouse, Camp Umpy’s Bagels, and Native

Each business will offer a featured drink for the month with proceeds from a small upcharge donated to the Conservancy to support its mission of protecting working farms and forests, clean waters, and wildlife habitat in the Upper Delaware River region.

In July, the program will rotate to Hawley, Wayne County, and August to Callicoon, NY.

Breweries, distilleries, wineries, and coffee and tea producers all rely on the abundant clean water of the region to create their product, and these establishments recognize the importance of investing in their local community and in a sustainable future.

“We’re thrilled to find new ways to partner with the wonderful locally owned, sustainable businesses who care for our community, and to work together not just for our mutual benefit, but for the millions of people who rely on clean drinking water from the Upper Delaware,” stated Diane Rosencrance, Executive Director for the Conservancy.

Drinks for the Delaware is modeled after the Conservancy’s successful Green Lodging Partnership program, which since 2012 has offered guests at participating hotels the option to make a $2-per-stay contribution to the protection of the working farms and forests, clean waters, and outdoor recreational opportunities that make the Upper Delaware River region such a wonderful place to live, work, and play.
