Reminder: NRCS-PA Conservation Stewardship Program Renewals Due Now

On March 10, the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service-PA announced it is now accepting Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) renewal applications through March 20.
This is a one-time opportunity for farmers and forest landowners, who have a 2015 or 2016 CSP contract that has not been previously renewed, or a 2014 contract that was previously extended for 1 year, to submit an application for a renewed 5-year contract.
Participants with a 2015 contract can also request a 1-year extension for a sixth year, at the same terms as were in the original contract.
Participants wishing to extend an existing 2015 contract must notify NRCS by March 13, 2020.
At or before the end of the contract extension, they will be able to apply for a 5-year CSP renewal contract that would start in 2021.
Participants are not required to apply for a renewal contract. However, participants who choose not to extend or renew an existing CSP contract under this opportunity will be ineligible for another CSP contract for two years following expiration of their existing contract.
NRCS has mailed contract renewal notification letters to all participants whose contracts expire in 2020. These letters contain instructions on how to apply for CSP renewal. Participants who believe they are eligible but have not received a letter should contact their local NRCS immediately.
To apply for renewal consideration, current contract holders should complete and submit an application on Form NRCS-CPA-1200, “Conservation Program Application,” along with Form NRCS-CPA-1248, “Conservation Stewardship Program Contract Renewal Offer Worksheet.”  These forms can also be obtained online or by contacting your local NRCS office.
