DEP Sets Oct. 21 Hearing On Broad Mountain Wind Power Project Water Quality Permit In Carbon County

The Department of Environmental Protection will hold a hearing on the NPDES Water Quality Permit for the Broad Mountain Wind Power Project in Nesquehoning Borough and Packer Township, Carbon County on October 21. (PA Bulletin, page 5362)
The hearing will be held at the Weatherly Elementary/Middle School Cafeteria, 602 6th Street in Weatherly from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Representatives from the Department’s Waterways and Wetlands Program and Broad Mountain Power, LLC will be in attendance.
The 80-megawatt Broad Mountain Wind Project, estimated between a $145 million to $165 to develop, features 21 turbines and related transmission line access. Upon completion, the project will produce enough clean electricity to power about 25,000 homes a year.
