On April 5, the Northeast Recycling Council announced the winners of its 2018 State Electronics Challenge Awards which challenges state, regional, tribal, local governments and nonprofit organizations to reduce the environmental impact of their electronic office equipment.
The program focuses on green procurement, power and paper conservation, and responsible end-of-life recycling. Participants are annually invited to report their activities and receive individual sustainability reports that describe the impact of their best management practices.
Two municipalities and one county were recognized among the 13 winners--
-- Gold Recognition for excellence in green purchasing, energy and paper conservation, and recycling were:
-- Borough Of State College, Centre County
-- Centre County Recycling & Refuse Authority
-- Bronze Recognition for excellence in green purchasing:
-- Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County
