Environmental Issues Forums
The next scheduled Environmental Issues Forums will be held--
-- October 16 featuring a presentation from representatives of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources who will discuss their new initiative, “Penn’s Parks for All—Planning for the State Parks of Tomorrow.” The department is updating their state park master plan for the first time in 25 years, incorporating a more modern approach to park management. Presenters will discuss their efforts in depth, including a new public survey launched this summer.
-- November 13 featuring a presentation on pumped storage hydropower, a type of hydroelectric energy storage used for load balancing. Adam Rousselle, president of Bucks County-based Merchant Hydro Developers, will discuss his company’s plans to develop 20 pumped storage facilities across the Commonwealth, some utilizing abandoned mines as water reservoirs. Pumped storage is increasingly viewed as a way to increase grid reliability during peak consumption.
Both Forums will be held in Room 8E-A East Wing starting at Noon.
