Hawk Mountain Sanctuary Receives Grant From PPL Foundation

Hawk Mountain Sanctuary in Berks County Tuesday announced it has received a $5,000 general operating grant from the PPL Foundation.
“This type of grant supports everything we do at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, from global training and research to leading school groups to welcoming hikers,” says Director of Development Mary Linkevich. “We couldn’t be more grateful.”
General operating grants are the Sanctuary's most important form of support, underwriting all Hawk Mountain conservation science and education programs, visitor services, and Sanctuary operations and maintenance.
The funding will contribute to the numerous educational events, workshops, and lectures that are provided for members and the public, as well as continued support for ongoing conservation research.
The PPL Foundation awards annual grants through a competitive application and review process.
"PPL is committed to improving the communities where our customers and employees live and work," said Ryan Hill, president of the PPL Foundation. "Organizations like Hawk Mountain improve the quality of life in our region, and we are pleased to be able to provide support for such an important initiative."
Through strategic partnerships, the PPL Foundation supports organizations that are doing innovative and groundbreaking work to create vital, sustainable communities and empowering each citizen to fulfill their potential.
The PPL Foundation contributes more than $2 million annually to a wide variety of nonprofit organizations.
The 2,500-acre Hawk Mountain Sanctuary is the world’s first refuge for birds of prey and is open to the public year-round by trail-fee or membership, which in turn supports the nonprofit organization’s raptor conservation mission and local-to-global research, training, and education programs.
