The Brodhead Creek Watershed Association will holds its annual River Ramble on August 6 and starts at the Middle Smithfield Municipal Building, 147 Municipal Drive, East Stroudsburg, Monroe County at 1:00 and will last until 4:00.
Participants will tour natural highlights of the Marshalls Creek Watershed along a mapped driving route, each spot staffed by some of the area’s finest naturalists eager to share their knowledge and love of the watershed.
Stops will feature a talk on the natural history of the valley, a beaver-created pond/creek system, a jaunt at Judy Putek Park with a renowned bug expert, the secrets of operating the Oak Grove Multi-Municipal Leaf Composting Facility, and little-known facts about the area’s geography.
Ramblers will also visit public areas on the Resica Falls Scout Reservation to see the falls and hear about the camp’s conservation efforts.
Afterward, enjoy good food and conversation at the traditional after-Ramble party, 4 to 5 p.m. at the Resica Park pavilion behind Resica Elementary School.
There is also an optional Rain Barrel Workshop at the Municipal Building. Click Here for more information.
Suggested donation is $10 for BWA members, $15 for nonmembers, with a $2 discount for pre-registering by August 2. Children under 12 attend for free. The after-party is included in the cost.
Registration is available online or by calling 570-839-1120 or sending email to: info@brodheadwatershed.org.
