Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust Cuts Ribbon On New Education & Research Field Station In Montgomery County

On October 19, the
Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust opened a new education and research field station in Montgomery County to be known as the BLBB Charitable Field Station.

The new facility, nestled in the lower part of the office at the Trust's headquarters in Huntingdon Valley, would not have come to fruition without the partnership with Montgomeryville-based BLBB Charitable, the giving arm of BLB&B Advisors, LLC.

"We are proud to partner with the Trust on this key project, because we know the BLBB Charitable Field Station will allow visitors and environmental leaders to learn, gather and connect to nature," said Nicole Tell, Executive Director of BLBB Charitable.

The field station, which holds a multimedia screen, microscopes, lab sink and ADA bathroom will be available for use for community meetings, field trips and art and science studio sessions.

Sliding glass doors open to a spacious outdoor patio area, allowing easy access for transferring field samples for testing.

Pennypack Trust Director Chris Mendel said, "This space is really just a tool that we hope will magnify both academic and personal experiences in nature, something to foster that connection to nature and to one another."

The ribbon cutting event also served as an appreciation celebration for partners, and key contributors to the Watershed Moment Capital Campaign, which helped fund the Field Station and other improvements at the Trust, including the installation of solar panels, new public restrooms, comprehensive signage and headquarters' full conversion to geothermal energy.
