Delaware Highlands Conservancy Economic Development Workshops In October

The Delaware Highlands Conservancy is sponsoring two workshops in October on how the natural assets of the Upper Delaware River region are an important driver of the local economy and how tourism actually saves local homeowners money on taxes.
The workshops will be held on--
-- October 17:  6-8 p.m., Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort, 100 Shawnee Inn Drive, Shawnee on Delaware, PA; and
-- October 18: 9-11 a.m., Tusten Theatre, 210 Bridge St., Narrowsburg, NY
Participants also learn how the region’s natural resources local jobs; how other similar communities leverage their outdoor recreational activities to attract entrepreneurs and new businesses; and how shopping local has a significant ripple effect on the economy.
Learn what you can do to help our community grow sustainably and move toward a bright future.
Municipal officials, local business owners, local planners, and area residents are strongly encouraged to attend.
The workshop presenter is Dr. Steve Morse, an economist and the Director of the Hospitality Tourism Program, College of Business at Western Carolina University.
This program is supported through the Delaware River Watershed Initiative with funds provided by the William Penn Foundation. Additional co-sponsors include The Chamber of the Northern Poconos, the Sullivan County Visitors Association, Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, and the Delaware Highlands Conservancy Green Lodging Partnership.
The fee for the workshop is $10 per person; advance registration is required. Light refreshments will be provided.
