PRC, Allegheny CleanWays Host Wild & Scenic Film Festival Sept. 22 & 24 In Pittsburgh

The PA Resources Council and the Allegheny CleanWays will host the Wild & Scenic Film Festival in Pittsburgh on September 22 and 24 as part of Pittsburgh’s month long Re:NEW Sustainability Festival.
The Wild & Scenic Film Festival – the nation’s premier environmental and adventure film festival – will be showcasing short films on beautiful ecosystems and powerful stories of individuals and communities protecting the environment.
“This year’s festival highlights human connections to the natural world, from Rocky Mountain streams to Southeast Asian rainforests to Pittsburgh’s own three rivers, and all films will educate and inspire festival-goers to take action to protect the local and global environment,” said Justin Stockdale, Regional Director for PRC in Pittsburgh.
“The Wild & Scenic Film Festival is an outstanding example of how the art of film can influence us to become more active in the protection of our environment,” added Stockdale.  “The festival offers individuals clear opportunities to engage with us and other organizations in pursuit of a cleaner and healthier environment.”
The Wild & Scenic Film Festival will take place:
-- September 22 at the Harris Theater in Downtown Pittsburgh’s Cultural District in partnership with the Re:NEW Festival.  Doors open at 6 p.m. and the program begins at 6:30 p.m.  Paul Fireman, president of Pittsburgh-based Fireman Creative, will serve as emcee.
-- September 24 at the Hollywood Theater in Dormont.  Doors open at 5 p.m. and the program begins at 6 p.m.  Doug Oster, organic gardening expert and Home and Garden editor of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, will serve as emcee.
“We’re honored to be a part of Re:NEW and the effort to highlight the intersection of art and environment,” said Myrna Newman, Executive Director of Allegheny CleanWays. “These award-winning films highlight the beauty of the natural world and how humans can harm, protect or coexist with our environment.  We’re proud to partner with the Re:NEW Festival, which works with local organizations and artists to celebrate creative reuse and sustainability in Pittsburgh.”
