The Department of Environmental Protection and its partners invite fleet managers, municipalities and business owners to attend one of four upcoming natural gas vehicle workshops.
Workshops will be held on the following dates and locations:
-- October 9 -10 a.m.-noon, DEP Northwest Regional Office, 230 Chestnut St., Meadville.
-- October 10 - 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m., DEP’s Southeast Regional Office, 2 E. Main St., Norristown.
-- October 10 - 10 a.m.-noon, Cranberry Township Municipal Center, 2525 Rochester Rd., Cranberry Township.
-- October 14 - 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m., DEP’s Northcentral Regional Office, 208 W. 3rd St., Williamsport.
Workshop attendees will hear from industry experts how natural gas is helping Pennsylvania move away from imported petroleum fuels to this homegrown, cleaner-burning, affordable alternative.
DEP staff will also provide information on the financial incentives available to help make the switch to compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG) through the agency’s Act 13 Natural Gas Vehicle Program.
There is no charge for the workshops, and lunch will be provided. Seating is limited and registration is required.
The Act 13 Natural Gas Vehicles Program is funded by impact fees paid by natural gas operators. Act 13 authorized DEP to develop and implement the Natural Gas Energy Development program, offering $20 million in grants over three years.
The third round of this program will offer an estimated $6 million to help pay for the incremental purchase and conversion costs of heavy-duty natural gas fleet vehicles.
Grant applications are due November 14 and grants will be awarded this winter.
