CBF-PA Notes Contributions Of The Late Sen. Mike Waugh To Chesapeake Bay Cleanup

Harry Campbell, Pennsylvania Director of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Thursday issued the following statement on the passing of former Sen. Mike Waugh--
“Sen. Waugh served as an active member of the interstate Chesapeake Bay Commission for nearly 11 years, including a term as Chair of the Pennsylvania delegation to the Commission in 2005. He made significant contributions to the Commission’s work by seeking and promoting new and innovative ways the agricultural community can contribute to the Bay cleanup.
“In 2007 Sen. Waugh was part of a bipartisan group of Pennsylvania legislators who helped pass the Resource Enhancement and Protection Act which provides $10 million in state tax credits to farmers for installing conservation practices, a program that remains so popular it routinely has more applications than it can fund.  The program became a model for other states to follow.
“Sen. Waugh always had an open door, and CBF welcomed his leadership in Pennsylvania on issues critical to the Chesapeake Bay cleanup.”
