The Department of Environmental Protection’s new Brownfield Development Guide that was unveiled at the recent Pennsylvania Brownfields Conference is now available on the department’s website.
This comprehensive guide outlines the full spectrum of services and resources available for the often complex steps involved in redeveloping brownfield properties.
The guide draws on Pennsylvania’s 18 years of experience in cleaning up more than 4,760 sites. It’s intended to assist a broad audience of private industry, state and local agencies, economic development agencies and redevelopment authorities, local officials, communities, property owners, developers and other stakeholders.
It identifies DEP assistance available through Brownfield Action Teams for: developing inventories and assessing properties;identifying sources of financial assistance; permitting site development activities; meeting cleanup challenges; and engaging communities, planning and outreach.
