The Department of Environmental Protection recently posted two compliance assistance tools to its website to assist oil and gas industry professionals.
DEP has posted a new series of online video training tutorials to provide further guidance to industry professionals on how to properly complete quarterly well inspections required under the Mechanical Integrity Assessment (MIA) Program.
MIA is a regulatory-based process used to inspect, assess and record quarterly well integrity data for operating oil and gas wells.
All visitors to the site are encouraged to view the “Well Training Intro” tutorial. Then, they can choose a tutorial that corresponds to a specific well construction design. The tutorials walk users through the process of filling out the appropriate forms for their specific well-type and explain in detail how to fill out the appropriate Excel spreadsheets.
DEP is continuing to add new tutorials to the list so users should check the site regularly for updates.
DEP also recently prepared and posted a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) fact sheet about GP‐5 and Exemption Category No. 38.
GP-5 is a General Plan Approval and/or General Operating Permit for mid-stream natural gas gathering, compression and/or processing facilities that are minor air contamination facilities. Exemption Category No. 38 of the Air Quality Permit Exemption List applies to sources located at a well pad.
The FAQ provides a clear explanation of the applicability and requirements of the general permit and answers questions often posed by applicants.
