Delaware Highlands Conservancy Accepting College Scholarship Applications

The Delaware Highlands Conservancy is currently accepting applications from eligible high school seniors for the “Delaware Highlands Conservancy/Yeaman Scholarship” in the amount of $1,000. The scholarship has been awarded annually since 2004 to a student planning to pursue a field in environmental studies in college.
Given in honor of the Conservancy’s founder, Barbara Yeaman, the scholarship is open to students in school districts bordering the Upper Delaware River in New York and Pennsylvania. These include Hancock Central, Eldred, Monticello, and Sullivan West in NY, and Wallenpaupack Area, Honesdale, and Delaware Valley in PA.
Barbara Yeaman understands that protecting our earth into the future means educating youth today. The scholarship embodies Barbara’s vision and the dedication of our members to protect our special Upper Delaware River region now and for future generations. Last spring, the Conservancy awarded a scholarship to Katie Krause, now attending Pennsylvania State University and majoring in biology.
Students should contact their guidance counselors for a scholarship application. Applications must be submitted through the school’s guidance counselor for transmittal to the Delaware Highlands Scholarship Committee by March 28. Recipients of the scholarship will be notified by April 30.
Funds for the scholarship are made available due to generous donations from Barbara Yeaman’s friends and family. The Conservancy also thanks Joann Puskarcik and the organization RESCUE for a generous contribution to our scholarship fund. To make a donation to the scholarship fund, please send an email to: give@delawarehighlands.org.
The Delaware Highlands Conservancy works with landowners and communities to protect the healthy lands, clean waters, eagles and other wildlife, and sustainable economies of the Upper Delaware River region.
