DEP - Day 135: Contaminated Water Discharges Continue, Still Fails To Comply With Cleanup Order At Equitrans Water SVC [EQT] Richter Shale Gas Water Impoundment In Greene County

On October 30, 2026, the Department of Environmental Protection conducted a compliance evaluation of cleanup and control of contaminated water from a June 17, 2026 release at the Equitrans Water SVC (PA) LLC Richter Shale Gas Water Impoundment Reclamation in Aleppo Township, Greene County.

DEP found multiple areas where seeps of contaminated water are not being collected impacting the access road, a pond on the site, from springs and in streams.

EQT is not conducting remediation efforts in these areas.

DEP did note contaminated water within the limits of the impoundment permit area is being collected and in some areas off site.

DEP continues to find EQT is failing to comply with a June 30th order to contain the spill, prevent migration of pollution offsite and remediate impacted areas.

Multiple violations continued.  No written response requested.
