A separate water withdrawal approval is required by SRBC for actually withdrawing water from a specific water source for use by shale gas drilling operations. Read more here.

Information on both water withdrawal and general water use permits is available through the SRBC’s Water Application and Approval Viewer (WAAV) webpage
The public can search the viewer by geographic location, company and industry, in this case Crude Petroleum and Natural Gas Extraction.
SRBC accepts comments on water withdrawal permits at hearings held before the Commission is scheduled to take action..
SRBC also accepts comments on general water use permits for 30 days after they are posted on the WAAV webpage, so it is helpful to check the page often.
