DEP Sets Feb. 20 Hearing On Interim Response To PFAS Well Water Contamination Near The Middle Spring Creek HSCA Site In Southampton Twp., Cumberland & Franklin Counties

The DEP Hazardous Sites Cleanup Program is scheduled to hold a hearing February 20 to take comments on its interim response to PFAS well water contamination from the Middle Spring Creek HSCA Site in Southampton Township, Cumberland and Franklin counties. (PA Bulletin, page 406) 

DEP has been providing or offering replacement water to the residents in seven homes near the site since October 14 when they were found to have well water contaminated with PFAS ‘forever chemicals’ above 4 parts per trillion PFOA.

Bottled water delivery will continue until DEP implements a final response to the contamination, according to the notice..

Investigation of the Middle Spring Creek HSCA Site will continue to determine the sources and extent of the contamination and if further response actions are necessary.

The hearing will be held at the Shippensburg Borough Office Building, 111 N. Fayette Street in Shippensburg starting at 6:00 p.m.

DEP is inviting comments on the Administrative Record covering this response.  Comments are due by April 11.
