This release marks the first update to datasets originally debuted in January 2024, now incorporating 2023 developments and related stormwater infrastructure.
ACCD will update the data annually as a critical resource for guiding land management and economic development decisions countywide.
These valuable datasets, designed to enhance transparency and collaboration, are publicly accessible on both the Conservation District and Western Pennsylvania Data Center websites and featured in an innovative ArcGIS StoryMap.
“This initiative represents a unique opportunity for professionals involved in natural resource management, land development, and economic planning to make informed decisions on shaping the future of Allegheny County’s communities,” said Heather Manzo, ACCD Executive Director. “By embracing open data and encouraging collaboration, ACCD aims to empower decision-makers and enhance the overall resilience of the county's ecosystems.”
ACCD will present the mapping project to a national audience at the Soil and Water Conservation Society annual conference in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on July 24, 2024.
Sept. 24 Workshop
ACCD will locally hold a workshop on September 24, 2024, as part of its ongoing outreach efforts with county municipalities. The workshop will discuss development and stormwater trends, along with examples of protective ordinances.
This event is part of a workshop series led by ACCD in collaboration with environmental nonprofits, funded by a $30,000 Department of Environmental Protection Environmental Education Grant.
