April 21: Western PA Leaders Host Virtual Information Session On Ohio River Valley Hydrogen Hub

There will be an
Ohio River Valley Hydrogen and Carbon Capture Hub Virtual Information Session on April 21 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.  The event is co-sponsored by the Ohio River Valley Institute.

The federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law of 2021 earmarks $8 billion for a fleet of regional hydrogen hubs, and there are already efforts in Harrisburg to designate one such hub in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

And earlier this year, a group of natural gas, petrochemical, and steel companies announced a hydrogen hub project here in the Ohio River Valley.

Natural gas contains methane, which can be used to produce hydrogen energy. These proposed projects would require additional natural gas drilling and fracking, and a sprawling network of pipelines for transportation.

To learn more about the hub’s potential impact on Western Pennsylvania’s economy, environment, and carbon emissions, join a group of leaders and energy and economic experts for a public information session Thursday.

The panelists include--

-- Event Sponsor Erika Strassburger, Pittsburgh City Council Member

-- Event Sponsor Rep. Sara Innamorato

-- Sean O'Leary, Ohio River Valley Institute

-- Suzanne Mattei, Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis

-- David Schlissel, Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis

-- Rachel Fakhry, Natural Resources Defense Council

-- Steven Feit, Center for International Environmental Law
