DEP To Hold Informal Public Conference Oct. 13 On Three Rivers Aggregates, LLC’s Surface Mine Permit Application In Lawrence County

On October 12, the Department of Environmental Protection announced it will hold an informal public conference to discuss the large noncoal surface mining permit application submitted by Three Rivers Aggregates, LLC, for a proposed surface coal mine located in New Beaver Borough, Lawrence County. 

The conference will be held Wednesday, October 13, 2021 starting at 6:00 p.m. at the New Beaver Boro Volunteer Fire Building, 898 Wampum New Galilee Road, Wampum, PA. 

DEP and Three Rivers Aggregates, LLC staff will be available to answer questions from the public regarding the proposed project. Any person wishing to join this meeting is asked to register ahead of time by emailing Tom Decker at thomadecke@pa.gov.  

Written comments of any length may also be provided to Chris Yeakle, environmental manager, via email at cyeakle@pa.gov,  or via mail at P.O. Box 669, Knox, PA 16232 no later than Thursday, October 28, 2021. 

Verbal comments provided at the conference and written comments provided by the deadline will be addressed by DEP in a comment response document.

A copy of the permit application is available for review prior to the conference at Lawrence County Conservation District office at 430 Court Street, New Castle, PA 16101, during business hours.
