The Stoltzfus dairy operation boasts an impressive 53 cows and 45 heifers. The family also grows corn, hay, and tobacco, while simultaneously running a plumbing business on the side.
With the Susquehanna River located one-half miles southwest of their property, the Stoltzfus family understands the importance of maintaining nearby natural resources.
Conservation practices implemented on the farm include crop rotation, cover crops, nutrient and pest management, residue and tillage management, grassed waterway, heavy use area protection, a roof runoff structure, pasture and hay planting, prescribed grazing, and manure management.
The property contains 5,250 total feet of road frontage, allowing passing drivers to take in expansive views of farmland. The farm was officially preserved over summer, meaning that views of the Stoltzfus’ scenic open space can be enjoyed forever.
