DEP/U.S. Dept. Of Justice Invite Comments On Proposed American Zinc Consent Decree For Facility In Palmerton, Carbon County


The Department of Environmental Protection published notice in the February 27 PA Bulletin inviting comments on a proposed U.S. Department of Justice
consent decree with American Zinc Recycling covering their facility in Palmerton, Carbon County. (PA Bulletin page 1082)

The proposed consent decree requires American Zinc to address air quality, waste and water quality issues arising from the operation of the facility.

The consent decree also requires American Zinc to pay a civil penalty of $3.3 million which will be evenly split between DEP and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
