Become A Friend Of South Mountain Partnership For Dec. 1 Giving Tuesday

As you give thanks this November and wrap up your holiday shopping in December, consider supporting the South Mountain Partnership through a membership or donation to the Friends of the South Mountain Partnership serving Adams, Cumberland, Franklin and York counties on Giving December 1.

Giving Tuesday is “a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.” It is a way for people to follow through on the feelings of gratitude at Thanksgiving by supporting local charities and is an alternative to Black Friday shopping.

Giving to the Friends group is more important now than ever!

The future health and wealth of our children and communities depends on the work that we do right now to conserve our landscape resources, create vibrant communities, and collaborate on well-planned growth and sustainable economic development.

Unfortunately, traditional sources of funding are at risk due to the Pennsylvania Legislator’s possible diversion of the Environmental Stewardship Fund into the Commonwealth’s general budget.

To ensure that the Partnership remains a powerful force for good in our region, the Friends group now offers memberships and donation opportunities.

With your help, the Partnership will continue to come together to build community and investments that are based on this region’s natural strengths.

Over the past 15 years it has attracted and leveraged millions of dollars for conservation, promotion, and preservation work around farmland preservation, clean water, wildlife habitat, parks, trails, historic sites, and more in Adams, Cumberland, Franklin and York counties.

The Partnership’s collaboration with The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC) created the Friends of the South Mountain Partnership – a Project of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities, fiscal sponsor, that allows for membership and tax deductible donations.

“The donations and memberships help fund administrative support for our trademark annual events like the Spring and Fall Partnership Meetings, workshops, and trainings,” said Katie Hess, Director of the South Mountain Partnership. “As you gather with family and friends this holiday season, consider all that makes you feel grateful in our shared home - the South Mountain region. From scenic mountain views, to flowering orchards, to historic iron furnace sites, and talented artisans, we live, work, and play in an incredible part of the country that deserves our protection and promotion!”

Four levels of membership are currently offered and donations can be made while signing up for a membership. There is also a corporate sponsorship program under development. You can purchase a membership for yourself or give one as a gift.

Not yet interested in becoming a member but still want to support the Partnership? General donations are also welcome now and throughout the year.
