On September 22, the PA Emergency Management Agency announced the Federal Emergency Management Agency will be opening the application periods for two Non-Disaster Mitigation Grants for county and local governments on September 30.
The first is a new grant called the Building Resilient Infrastructure & Communities (BRIC). This grant replaces the FEMA Pre-Disaster Mitigation grant and has $500 million (minus tribal and state set-asides).
The second is the Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) grant which will have $160 million available in this nationwide application competition.
After reviewing the information on these programs and you determine your jurisdiction meets the eligibility requirements, you can send in a Non-Contractual and REQUIRED Letter of Interest (LOI) form to PEMA at RA-Shazmitoff@pa.gov.
All PEMA Letters of Interest must be sent to PEMA by COB, October 15, 2020. This form can be found on the PEMA website.
You can submit this year’s 2020 BRIC or FMA Letter of Interest now, prior to the FEMA application opening of September 30, 2020.
All complete 2020 Non-Disaster Applications are due by COB (1700 EST) November 18, 2020.
Change This Year: All Non-Disaster grants will not be entered in the FEMA E-Grants System. This year’s applications will be entered into the FEMA Grants Outcomes (FEMA GO) system.
Once PEMA receives your Letter of Intent, more information will follow up on how to access this system.
