Capital Region Water in Harrisburg announced Monday a draft City Beautiful H20 Program Plan outlining a plan to reduce combined sewer system overflows and pollution from stormwater runoff is now available for public comment.
As mandated by a federal consent decree with the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and Department of Environmental Protection, Capital Region Water has developed a long-range plan to restore aging infrastructure and improve the health of local waterways.
The Draft City Beautiful H2O Program Plan outlines $315 million in projects to be constructed over the next 20 years including $214 million toward the rehabilitation and replacement of aging infrastructure and $101 million toward projects to reduce combined sewer overflows and other water pollution challenges.
Coupled with the Community Greening Plan-- Capital Region Water’s Green Stormwater Infrastructure Plan-- City Beautiful H2O will provide a framework and implementation guide for addressing wet weather and outdated infrastructure issues.

Three public meetings will be held on the plan--
