DEP Declares Air Quality Action Day Wednesday For Southeast PA

The Department of Environmental Protection and the Air Quality Partnership have forecast Wednesday, May 17 will be an Air Quality Action for Southeast Pennsylvania, including the counties of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia.
Strong full sun and light southwesterly surface winds will promote ozone formation. In addition, a polluted air mass will be moving into the Delaware Valley from the southwest.
The hot, summer-like weather will continue on Thursday. Increased atmospheric mixing should be sufficient to return ozone to the upper Moderate range, with low Moderate particles persisting. A cold front will move through the forecast area on Friday.
