The PA Association of Township Supervisors this week announced the Letort Spring Run Sustainable Stormwater Pilot Project in Cumberland County as the winner of its 2014 Excellence in Intergovernmental Cooperation Award.
DEP is one of eight stakeholders in the project that seeks to develop a sustainable multi-municipal stormwater management plan to address runoff issues that have plagued the Letort Spring Run watershed for years.
PSATS recognized the project for its efforts to address a problem that plagues many municipalities across the state, as well as its commitment to intergovernmental cooperation.
"As a member of this pilot project, we commend you for the actions your agency has taken to date to participate in such an important intergovernmental effort, and encourage your continued interest in such collaborative approaches to address the problems faced at the local level," PSATS Executive Director David M. Sanko said in a letter to DEP Secretary E. Christopher Abruzzo.
Other stakeholders in the project include the U.S. Army War College; PennDOT; Middlesex, North Middleton and South Middleton townships; and the Borough of Carlisle.
