The PA Groundwater Symposium will be virtual for 2021 and offers a full agenda of groundwater resource information and speakers.
In celebration of National Drinking Water Week, Penn State Extension and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection along with numerous other sponsors invite you to attend the 2021 Virtual Pennsylvania Groundwater Symposium.

The Symposium theme, Virtual Groundwater, will provide an online forum for researchers, students, professionals, and educators working in the groundwater field to exchange information and promote protection of groundwater resources throughout the state.
The virtual Symposium will include a combination of live and pre-recorded presentations and question/answer sessions.
The entire Symposium will be accessible from a desktop computer or any mobile device.
The symposium will begin at 8:30 a.m. on May 6 with opening remarks by Melinda Chapman, the director of the U.S. Geological Survey, Pennsylvania Water Science Center.
The morning plenary session will continue with a keynote presentation on The Hydrogeology of Carbonate Aquifers by Dr. William White from Penn State.
Charles Cravotta from the U.S. Geological Survey will also provide a keynote presentation on Investigations to Understand and Mitigate Coal-Mining Impacts to Groundwater in Pennsylvania.
Additional morning and afternoon plenary and concurrent session speakers along with a live panel discussion will address numerous important groundwater issues including PFAS, climate change, land use impacts, and groundwater monitoring.
Registrants can also receive continuing education credits for attending all sessions.
Numerous breaks are included in the schedule to facilitate the virtual format which will conclude at 3:30 PM.
A nominal registration fee of just $50 is made possible thanks to generous funding support from sponsors including the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, the Pennsylvania Ground Water Association, the Pennsylvania Water Resources Research Center, the Susquehanna River Basin Commission, and ARM Group LLC.
Further discounted registration is also available for certified Penn State Master Well Owner volunteers.
In lieu of a field trip, an optional virtual session will be offered for one hour on May 5 at 2:00 p.m. on Pennsylvania Hydrogeology 101 by Dr. Dave Yoxtheimer from Penn State University for an additional $10 registration fee.
