Dept. Of Health Reported 16 Additional Deaths Due To COVID-19; 962 New Cases

On July 23, the Department of Health reported 16 additional deaths as a result of COVID-19 bringing the total number of deaths to 7,079.
As of 12:00 a.m. July 23, there were 962 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 104,358 in all 67 counties.

County-specific information and a statewide map are available.

There are 981,259 patients who have tested negative to date.  Approximately 7,752 of Pennsylvania’s total positive cases are in health care workers.

Of the patients who have tested positive to date the age breakdown is as follows:

-- 1 percent are ages 0-4;

-- 1 percent are ages 5-12;

-- 3 percent are ages 13-18;

-- Nearly 9 percent are ages 19-24;

-- 37 percent are ages 25-49;

-- 23 percent are ages 50-64; and

-- 25 percent are ages 65 or older.

Most of the patients hospitalized are aged 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older. There have been no pediatric deaths to date. More data is available here.

In nursing and personal care homes, there are 18,892 resident cases of COVID-19, and  3,707 cases among employees, for a total of 22,599 at 804 distinct facilities in 60 counties.
