Briefing: First PA Coronavirus Cases Reported, Governor Signs Disaster Declaration

On March 6, Gov. Tom Wolf confirmed the first two presumptive positive cases of 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Pennsylvania in Delaware and Wayne counties and reminded residents that the Commonwealth is prepared to respond to community spread of this virus.  Read more here.
On March 7, Gov. Wolf announced two more presumptive cases in Montgomery County bringing the total to four and urged the General Assembly to take action on measures to help the state response.  Read more here.
On March 8, the Department of Health announced two more presumptive cases found in Montgomery County, bringing the total in Pennsylvania to six. Read more here.

Gov. Wolf signed an emergency disaster declaration to provide increased support to state agencies involved in the response to the coronavirus.  Read more here.

Influenza

Meanwhile the regular flu continues to be widespread in Pennsylvania with new cases still coming in, except in Forest County. There have been 74 deaths associated with the flu so far in the state this season.  Read more here.
