The Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority and Pocono Heritage Land Trust are co-sponsoring a Backyard Composting Basics Workshop on March 14 at the Brodhead Creek Heritage Center, 1539 Cherry Lane in East Stroudsburg from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.
Are you looking to add sustainable habits to your lifestyle? You're in luck! Learn how to compost waste you already have into rich soil for planting.
Composting is a great way to recycle your fruit and vegetables scraps, coffee grounds, egg shells, grass clippings, leaves and much, much more. Composting food waste will reduce waste, lower disposal costs, and save valuable landfill space.
Workshop participants will learn the “do’s and don’ts” of composting.
Other Workshops
The Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority will also be holding five additional composting classes this year at their headquarters in Blakeslee at 183 Commercial Boulevard.
The workshops will be held on April 18, May 16, June 13, September 5 and October 3.
The cost is $25.00 per person and each participant will receive a backyard “Earth Machine” compost bin (retail value $99.00).
In order to participate, you must pre-register and prepay with the Monroe County Waste Authority. Classes are limited to 20 people, so register today!
