IFO Reports Natural Gas Production Increased 11.4% In 2019; Increases In Production, Number Of Producing Wells Down Significantly

On February 26, the Independent Fiscal Office issued its quarterly report on natural gas production in Pennsylvania showing an 11.4 percent increase in 2019, which is below the average annual increase of 18.9 percent from 2012 to 2019.
Fourth quarter production increased 7.6 percent over the fourth quarter in 2018, the lowest growth rate in over two years.
Susquehanna, Washington, Greene, Bradford, Lycoming, Tioga, Wyoming, Butler, Sullivan and Allegheny counties are the top 10 producing counties.
The number of producing wells was 9,442 in 2019, which was 8.1 percent higher than in 2018.  From 2012 to 2019, the number of producing wells grew at an average rate of 17.1 percent per annum.
