The PA Parks and Forests Foundation, the only non-profit whose mission is Pennsylvania’s state parks and forests, Thursday announced the appointment of five new board members.
The new members include: George Fernandez (CEO The Latino Connection), Dr. James Grace (Retired, State Forester and Deputy Director of Parks and Forestry, DCNR), Senator Stewart Greenleaf (State Senate), Tina Molski (Director of Operations-East Coast Division for Recreation Equipment Incorporated (REI), and Dr. Christopher Sciamanna (Chief, Division of General Internal Medicine, Penn State College of Medicine).
PPFF board members come from varying geographical locations across Pennsylvania. They represent careers in business, conservation, health care, recreation, and government, as well as a wide array of volunteer experiences.
“We are excited to have this array of skills and enthusiasm for our public lands and engaging people in healthy outdoor recreation and conservation on our board of directors,” said Marci Mowery, President of the PA Parks and Forests Foundation. “They will be joining a board with vast knowledge and commitment to the stewardship of our state parks and forests.”
“I am constantly impressed by how Pennsylvanians love and support their Parks and Forests, and also how they support PPFF and its Friends groups with their time and money,” said George Asimos, Board Chair of Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation. “PPFF is the only public charity whose sole purpose to support Pennsylvania’s Parks and Forests. Our new, highly accomplished Board members bring with them their talent, their resources and their love of the Pennsylvania outdoors and our Board is thrilled to have them join us.’
Current members of the board include: Chair, George Asimos, Esq; Vice Chair, Maria Montero, Esq.; Treasurer, Gary Smith; Secretary, Brian Clark, Esq.; Jim Fields; Gus Frederick, Maxine Harrison, Rep. Mark Longietti, Barb Sexton, Mary Soderberg, and Rob Wonderling.
Advisory board members consist of: William Forrey, John C. Oliver III, Linda McKenna Boxx, and Mary Webber.
