Hawk Mountain To Host Guided Hike On March 7

Hawk Mountain Sanctuary in Kempton, Berks County, will host a fully-guided two-mile winter hike on March 7 starting at 10 a.m. at the Sanctuary Visitor Center.
This woodland walk will be free for members; non-members will be charged the regular trail admission, $6 adults and $5 seniors. Participants should dress appropriately by wearing layers and shoes suitable for icy conditions, and carry bottled water and snacks in a daypack.
"Hiking is a relaxing hobby and a fun excuse to get outside and get some exercise, especially during the winter when most people spend bulk of their time indoors," says education intern Robert Neubert, an outdoor enthusiast who organized the event.
The program will start with a short indoor lesson on the essentials for a winter hike and immediately following, the group will head out for a walk through the snow to explore a few of the lookouts along the trail.
Hawk Mountain Sanctuary is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to raptor conservation. Its 2,500-acre wildlife sanctuary is open to the public year-round, and includes an eight-mile trail system, scenic overlooks, and Visitor Center with bird feeder viewing areas, Mountain Bookstore and Native Plant Garden.
