Both Gov. Rendell and Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi (R-Delaware) expressed optimism at a press conference today about Congress appropriating "a substantial part" of the $850 million in federal Medicaid funds by the end of the day Tuesday.
Sen. Pileggi said the current planning assumes the state will receive about 70 percent of the $850 million-- which means about $265 million in cuts would still need to be made.
Coincidentally, the increase in the basic education grants this year was $250 million.
