Department of Environmental Protection Secretary John Hanger announced this week an opportunity for a qualified entity to administer Pennsylvania's new Home Heating Equipment Rebate program.
The application deadline is 4 p.m. on January 29.
“We are looking for an individual, organization or business with the knowledge and ability to distribute $11 million of federal funding to citizens willing to invest in making their homes more energy and cost efficient,” said Secretary Hanger.
The department is accepting applications to implement and administer the consumer rebate program for non-electrical residential water heaters and heating equipment that uses natural gas, propane or fuel oil. The rebate program, funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, will open this spring and will stimulate the economy by creating jobs through the manufacturing and installation of residential energy-efficient equipment.
DEP will host a pre-application conference call for potential applicants to submit questions to department staff. It will take place on Jan. 13 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The contact number is 1-866-469-3239, and the access code is 21310269.
Applications to administer the program must be mailed or delivered to the Department of Environmental Protection, PA Home Heating Equipment Rebate Program, 15th Floor, Rachel Carson State Office Building, 400 Market St., Harrisburg, PA 17105-8772. Emails and faxes will not be accepted. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Solicitation guidelines and application packages will at some point be available at www.recovery.pa.gov; under the heading "Where is Your Money Going" click on "Energy."
