Allegheny County To Host The Next Round Of Public Input Meetings On The County's Climate Action Plan Starting Oct. 14

The
Allegheny County Department of Sustainability is hosting a series of four in-person and virtual public meetings to gather more public input for the development of the Allegheny County Climate Action Plan.

The Plan will create a roadmap for greener, healthier communities, and sustainable, efficient county operations and programs that reflect the voices of the community.

Hearing from as many Allegheny County residents, organizations, businesses, and public agencies as possible is a critical priority in the development of the Climate Action Plan.

Public Meetings

The next round of public meetings will be held--

-- October 14: Community Forge - Wilkinsburg, 6:00 p.m.

-- October 16: Castle Consortia - McKees Rocks, 6:00 p.m.

-- October 23: Virtual Meeting, 5:30 p.m.

-- October 29: Glassport Municipal Building, 6:00 p.m.

All attendees will be entered into a raffle for door prizes (gift certificates, energy efficiency kits, & more!)

Climate Action Plan

The Climate Action Plan (CAP) will focus on strategies for county operational sustainability, as well as community-level opportunities for mitigation and resiliency.

The creation of the CAP includes a year-long engagement and drafting process, resulting in an actionable plan that Allegheny County intends to energetically pursue upon plan completion.

The CAP is being developed in close coordination with similar efforts throughout the region, as well as the ongoing Allegheny County Hazard Mitigation Plan and Comprehensive Plan, to ensure community voices are reflected, important feedback and data are shared, strategies and recommendations are aligned, and cost-savings are recognized.

The CAP will align with and incorporate information from municipal, regional, and state CAPs that have already been completed--
