Del Voight and his family raise Angus seedstock on approximately 13 acres of pasture and hay land and started grazing in 2000. They bale the first cutting for winter feed and then begin the grazing rotation for their five cow-calf pairs.
A four-strand perimeter fence, temporary interior fencing, and movable watering system are key components that make this scalable system possible.
This event will launch a new Capital RC&D grazing support program to loan temporary fencing equipment to graziers wanting to try new management practices.
The package includes ring top multi-wire step-in posts, 1640’ poly wire fence on a reel (three reels total), and a solar energizer with ground rods.
Support on fence set up and use will be provided by Capital RC&D Grazing Advisors. Pasture walk attendees will see a demonstration of how to use temporary fencing in new and existing pastures and be able to try using the fence in the field.
Also, the ongoing PA Grazing Lands Coalition Mentor/Mentee Program will be highlighted.
This event is sponsored by Capital RC&D through partnership with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and with funding through a National Fish and Wildlife Foundation grant.
