Keystone Trails Association Holds Fall Hiking Weekend Oct. 14-16 In Lewisburg, Union County Featuring Mega Trail Hiker Heather Anderson

The Keystone Trails Association’s
Fall Hiking Weekend is an annual tradition, bringing together a constituency of outdoor enthusiasts for two and a half days of inspiring hikes, informative programs, and engagement with fellow explorers and trail organizations.

The 2022 event will be held at the Best Western Plus Country Cupboard Inn in Lewisburg, Union County and attract people from across the state.

Whether new to the pursuit or a seasoned adventurer, the Hiking Weekend offers something for everyone-- from a nationally-acclaimed keynote speaker on Saturday evening-- Heather Anderson, trail name Anish-- to multi-mile expeditions on nearby trails.

Participants can come for a day, evening, or the entire event. Registration ends October 1st so sign-up today.

The importance of hiking cannot be overstated. Hiking fights obesity, promotes cardiovascular health, lowers stress, and mitigates anxiety and depression.

Trails instill an interest in nature and cultivate new conservationists. They foster connectivity and economic vitality. Trails bring people together.

“We’re thrilled to bring the Fall Hiking Weekend to Lewisburg and acquaint more people to the hiking opportunities in this part of the state,” says Brook Lenker, Executive Director of Keystone Trails Association.  “It’s a lovely area and a great venue for an Autumn event.”

Saturday evening, October 15, Heather Anderson will present a keynote address at 7:00 p.m. Among her many outdoor accomplishments, Ms. Anderson is a National Geographic Adventurer of the Year and the only woman who has completed the Appalachian, Pacific Crest and Continental Divide National Scenic Trails each three times.

The program is open to all.

Attendees can register at the Fall Hiking Weekend webpage anytime prior to the event or pay at the door (admission is $10).

The Fall Hiking Weekend and Saturday evening program are sponsored by the Foundation for Pennsylvania Watersheds, and Vargo, an outdoor gear company based in Lewisburg.
