DCNR Joins Monarch Joint Venture To Promote Pollinator Health, Monarch Butterfly Migration

On January 6, the
Monarch Joint Venture welcomed the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to the MJV Partnership, a group of federal and state agencies, non-governmental organizations, businesses and academic programs working together to protect the monarch migration across the United States.

DCNR actively promotes pollinator health through habitat creation and education and is in the process of expanding their programs to more directly support the monarch butterfly.

Some of their projects include pollinator gardens at Park Offices and Forest Resource Management Centers, as well as the implementation of pollinator habitat along right of way corridors, roadsides and herbaceous openings.

DCNR is also using native plants and pollinator habitat to help restore the land around abandoned mines.

DCNR sees monarchs and pollinators as critical to ecosystem health and human wellbeing and hopes to highlight the importance of pollinators in their habitat and education projects.

The MJV is delighted to be partnering with them in this work!
