Sustainable Pittsburgh: Support Local, Sustainable Businesses This Holiday Season

Sustainable Pittsburgh is reminding Western Pennsylvania shoppers of opportunities to Shop Sustainably and to frequent Sustainable Restaurants this holiday season.

This year, the local business districts are getting creative! You can shop small and participate in these fun programs, while supporting your local shops here and throughout the Pittsburgh region:

-- Want to shop online? Check out Handmade Arcade and I Made It! Market's virtual marketplaces.

-- Looking for a gift for the artist in your life? The Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse is now online! They have tons of giftable craft kits for sale as well as a huge selection of creative, nontraditional art and craft materials (not to mention tons of fabric, yarn, and vintage items!) They offer curbside pickup at their store in East Liberty, local delivery, or shipping.

-- The Lawrenceville Cookie Tour is back, but as a rewards card with a grand prize! Pick up a cookie tour rewards card at any of the participating businesses. Earn prizes by purchasing items from your favorite Lawrenceville businesses. Learn more here!

-- Check out Downtown Pittsburgh's Holiday Gift Guide for inspiration and deals!

-- The Strip District Business Association and Strip District Neighbors are thrilled to present the 2021 “Passport to the Strip,” a coupon book and mini directory for visitors, residents, and supporters of the Strip District. The Passport features hundreds of dollars in promotional savings from over 75 local businesses, merchants, and companies located in the Historic Strip District.

-- Squirrel Hill Rewards is a coalition of local businesses that rewards customers for their loyalty with points! More information is coming soon, but you can sign up for their info list here

-- The Shop2Help Oakland Gift Card Program promises that for every $25 spent on gift cards for local Oakland restaurants and shops, 25 meals will be donated to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. As an added incentive, every $25 spent will equal $35 for gift card buyers, giving them a little extra to spend. See all participating businesses here
