The
Local Government Academy will host a series of webinars in October and November on community sustainability and resilience topics.  The webinars include--

-- September 29: Green Stormwater Infrastructure In SW PA: The Case For Maintenance & Monitoring.  2:00 to 3:00 p.m. -- For municipal leaders and public works departments interested in green stormwater infrastructure, having maintenance and monitoring strategies is key. Join us for this presentation discussing case studies revolving around how design influences maintenance, how maintenance relates to GSI longevity and performance, and how high cost does not equate to high performance. David Himes, Sustainable Communities Coordinator Penn State Center.

-- October 13: Building Community Resilience - 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.-- The Community Resilience Building (CRB) process has been used by over 400 municipalities across 9 states to collaboratively and comprehensively generate resilience action plans at the local level. This presentation will provide an overview of resilience from a municipal and regional perspective within the context of the CRB process. Instructors—Adam Whelchel, Ph.D., Director of Science, The Nature Conservatory and Jim Price, Program Manager, Sustainable Pittsburgh.

-- November 10: Resilient Green Space - How Municipalities Can Make Green Space Pay For Itself - 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. -- Research shows that green spaces are critical infrastructure for resilient cities.
