Duquesne Light, Nissan Extend PA Electric Vehicle Incentive Deadline To Sept. 30

Nissan and Duquesne Light Company Monday announced they are extending their rebate program to  purchase all-electric LEAF cars until September 30, or until supplies last.
Duquesne Light is committed to the City of Pittsburgh’s energy future, a part of which is increasing the number of electric vehicles on the region’s roadways by promoting electric vehicle education and adoption through initiatives like the Nissan LEAF discount.
This extended offer gives Duquesne Light customers and employees a $3,000 rebate off the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price on the 2018 LEAF.
The purchaser also could qualify for up to $7,500 in federal electric vehicle tax credits and a $1,750 rebate through the Department of Environmental Protection’s Alternative Fuel Vehicle Rebate Program.
“Duquesne Light sees a lot of value in electric vehicles from lower fuel costs to fewer greenhouse gas emissions,” said Sarah Olexsak, Transport Electrification Manager, Duquesne Light. “As our customers begin to adopt these vehicles, we’re preparing by modernizing our grid and ensuring the needs of those customers are met.”
Depending on the model, the list price for the Nissan LEAF ranges from about $30,000 to $36,000. To qualify for the savings, individuals should show their Duquesne Light utility bill to participating Nissan dealerships that are listed online.
In addition to its partnership with Nissan, DLC has a number of other EV initiatives including a partnership with Uber to increase the number of direct current (DC) fast charging stations throughout the region in an effort to reduce range anxiety amongst EV drivers.
While also encouraging customers to purchase EVs, Duquesne Light has committed to electrifying its own fleet with plans to spend more than 20 percent of its fleet purchases on EVs in 2019.
Duquesne Light’s current electric fleet included nine compact passenger EVs, six plug-in hybrid bucket trucks and three electric forklifts.
