DEP Proposes Water Quality Approval, Emsworth Lock & Dam 12-MW Hydro Facility

The Department of Environmental Protection published notice in the October 1 PA Bulletin proposing conditional State Water Quality Certification for a 12-megawatt hydroelectric facility at the Emsworth Lock and Dam in Allegheny County. (PA Bulletin, page 6183)
DEP published notice in the September 17 PA Bulletin for a proposed 24-megawatt hydro facility at this same location.
DEP is accepting public comments on its proposed certification until November 1.
Comments will be accepted through DEP’s eComment webpage.  Written comments should be submitted by email to ecomments@pa.gov, or by mail to the Department of Environmental Protection, Southwest Regional Office, Waterways and Wetlands Program, 400 Waterfront Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
