Midtown Cinema, located at 250 Reily Street in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, is producing the first annual EarthFest, 4-7 p.m. on April 22.
In conjunction with environmental and civic organizations, Midtown Cinema is proud to present an afternoon of learning and fun for the whole family.
Confirmed participating organizations include 2Minute Tuesday, Capital Region Water, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Friends of Midtown, Green Urban Initiative, Joshua Farm, Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art, and Recycle Bicycle Harrisburg.
The schedule of events is below, but of particular note is a FREE screening of the BBC documentary PLANET EARTH from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.. This free screening is sponsored by Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
Most events will take place outside of Midtown Cinema, located on Reily between Susquehanna and Green. Rain barrel painting, bicycle repairs, a session on native plants (where participants will get their hands dirty!), a tree planting, as well as demonstrations from participating organizations, will fill the afternoon.
The event will culminate in a screening of the 1996 comedy BIO-DOME with Pauly Shore. The screening of BIO-DOME will be $8 or $5 for Midtown Cinema Members.
The community is invited to participate in this new initiative by Midtown Cinema, its parent company LIFT Development, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and the other community partners.
