Student Winners
In the student category, the winner of the $500 first place prize is Jacob Valente of Republic, a 10th grade student at Laurel Highlands High School in Uniontown, Fayette County.
Jacob’s photo titled “Lets Jump Start Awareness on Pollution” pictures a discarded battery with a sunlight illuminated light bulb nearby.
The judges awarded the second place prize of $250 to Casey Yang from Pittsburgh, an 11th grade student at North Allegheny Senior High School, in Allegheny County.
The photo titled “F for Effort” shows side-by-side recycling and trash cans both full and overflowing onto the sidewalk.
The third place prize of $100 was won by Kieran Cain, an 11th grade student from Sewickley, Allegheny County who attends Quaker Valley High School.
Kieran’s photo titled “GONE Fishing” depicts fishingline and bobbers entangled in branches.
Adult Winners
The winner of the $500 first place prize in the adult category was Joanne Tyzenhouse of Red Lion, York County.
Joanne’s photo titled “Litter Kills” shows a great blue heron with a cap constricting its beak.
The judges awarded the second place prize of $250 to Olivia Haldeman of Millersville, Lancaster County.
The photo titled “Flapping in the Wind” pictures a plastic bag impaled on a tree limb with a raft of ducks visible through and behind it.
Andrew Wagner of Sewickley, Allegheny County was awarded the 3rd place prize of $100 for the photo titled “Down the Drain”, showing a “drains to drinking water” marked water drain covered in litter.
Before & After
The winner of the $500 first place prize in the new Before & After adult category was Pam Loss of Red Lion, York County.
The Before & After photos titled “Trash Out. Beauty In” show a littered creek bank which was cleaned up to become a more scenic spot.

Exposure Leads To Prevention
The objective of PRC’s Lens on Litter Contest is to focus public attention on the problems of litter in Pennsylvania.
Photos help to heighten litter consciousness by showing how it threatens public health and safety, scenic beauty, property values, the environment, pets and wildlife.
2026 Photo Contest Begins Jan. 1
PRC encourages students and adults to enter the 2026 Lens on Litter Contest, which opens for entries on January 1.
Don’t forget the new Before & After category, sponsored by Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, with additional prizes.
