DEP Invites Comments On Title V Air Quality Permit For Eastern Gas Transmission Compressor Station In Westmoreland County At Oct. 31 Hearing

The Department of Environmental Protection is scheduled to hold a public hearing on October 31 on a proposed Title V Air Quality Permit for the Eastern Gas Transmission South Oakford Natural Gas Compressor Station located in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County.  (Sept. 30, 2023 PA Bulletin, page 6076)

The proposed project will add Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) units to each of two compressor engines, in order to achieve the presumptive RACT III requirements for each engine. The addition of the SCR will result in a reduction of NOx emissions from this existing facility.

After the completion of the project, the facility will be limited to 78.5 tons/ 12-consecutive month period (12-cmp) of Nitrogen Oxide, 159 tons/12-cmp of Carbon Monoxide, 15.5 tons/12-cmp of PM10 Particulate, 15.5 tons/12-cmp of PM2.5 Particulate, 0.5 ton/12-cmp of Sulfur Dioxide, 66 tons/12-cmp of Volatile Organic Compounds, 22.5 tons/12-cmp of formalde- hyde, and 31.5 tons/12-cmp total Hazardous Air Pollutants.

The hearing will be held at DEP’s Southwest Regional Office, 400 Waterfront Drive in Pittsburgh from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
